Bridging the Digital Gap
The Rotary Club of River Cities in Illinois, USA, and the Rotary Club Kampala Nsambya in Uganda, in partnership with the Candle Light Foundation (CLF Uganda) in Uganda, have successfully established a computer lab at Candle Light High School. This initiative is aimed at providing vital computer skills to extremely vulnerable high school students, empowering them for future university studies.
The computer lab is equipped with 10 laptops, a day light projector and screen, and a laser printer/scanner with a 24/7 internet connection. The curriculum encompasses various subjects, including office software for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations, as well as website development, digital marketing, and basic programming.
Our vision for this project extends beyond the current setup, as we aspire to further expand the computer lab and broaden the range of subjects offered to students. We firmly believe that these efforts will create new opportunities, allowing these students to break free from extreme poverty and pursue a path toward economic success
